MISSION
Village Glen offers a rigorous, college preparatory curriculum specifically designed to support K – 12 students with autism spectrum disorder and other related special needs to reach their fullest social, communication, and academic potentials.
Village Glen adheres to the belief that students should experience the joy of learning as a lifelong process and develop unique talents and skills in preparation for their future goals. Many of the students at Village Glen have social, emotional and learning differences associated with high-functioning autism spectrum disorder, anxiety-related disorders, and non-verbal learning disabilities. We seek to inspire students to become effective communicators with solid social skills ready for the collaborative demands of work and social life. To promote social development, Village Glen utilizes a unique social skills framework developed by developmental psychologists at The Help Group in conjunction with a wide range of clinical services provided by a highly professional, licensed and credentialed staff. The school also aims to develop creative thinkers, committed and independent citizens, and compassionate, self-reliant individuals through partnerships with parents, the school, and the community.

Greetings and welcome to Village Glen School! We invite you to explore our website to learn more about what makes Village Glen a very special place.
Village Glen is a non-public school dedicated to guiding and supporting special education students with social and communicative challenges including individuals with High Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and other special needs. Village Glen’s mission is committed to supporting our students in reaching their full potential academically, socially, and behaviorally. Central to Village Glen’s mission is the belief that our students can experience the joy of learning and meaningful peer relationships through a rich variety of learning and social experiences in a safe, caring, and challenging environment.
The academic programming at Village Glen School is designed to meet the needs of a diverse range of elementary, middle, and high school students including both struggling learners and individuals who are more advanced. The instruction at Village Glen is standards-based, rigorous, and student-centered, thus enabling both accessibility and accountability for all students. Through project-based learning, technology-driven activities, and peer collaboration, students are exposed to impactful learning experiences that assist them in making the connections necessary for true understanding and retention of concepts.
Academic instruction is combined with daily social skills instruction and intervention, behavioral interventions and supports, executive functioning supports, and therapeutic interventions including counseling services, language and speech services, and occupational therapy. Instruction is also balanced with enrichment opportunities including sports, the arts, student clubs and organizations, community service projects, job and career development, and extra-curricular offerings, all of which are designed to support our students’ unique needs at all levels of their growth and development.
As a WASC accredited school, Village Glen strives to maximize student learning and to create independent, life-long learners. Our graduates attend colleges including those in the University of California and California State systems, community colleges, and many other public and private colleges throughout the United States. Village Glen has a dedicated and experienced staff and caring, committed families. Our classes have a maximum of 14 students, with two educators per class – a special education credentialed teacher as well as a teaching assistant. Through ongoing professional development opportunities, Village Glen’s highly qualified faculty and support staff remain up-to-date on the best practices for meeting the needs of our students.

Village Glen School is an innovative, multidisciplinary, college preparatory day school specifically designed for students with challenges in the areas of socialization, communication and pragmatic language development, and peer relations, including autism, anxiety-related disorders, and non-verbal learning disabilities.
Recognizing the strengths, challenges, and natural talents of each student, Village Glen promotes strong academic achievement and social and personal well-being. Academically, Village Glen serves students with average to above-average academic abilities, and the curriculum offers a University of California/California State University-approved and required a-g courses, including Honors courses and Advanced Placement (AP) courses to enhance student readiness for college.
To promote social development, Village Glen employs a unique framework emphasizing social skills development that synthesizes the best practices currently available in the field. Students may be supported behaviorally by a licensed behavioral team utilizing a framework that utilizes research-based, scientifically validated interventions.
Village Glen offers its rigorous, innovative curriculum in conjunction with a wide range of clinical services. Counseling, Mental Health Services, Speech, and Occupational Therapy are provided by a highly professional, licensed, and credentialed staff.
Village Glen School is certified by the California Department of Education (CDE) and accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

Founded in 1975, The Help Group is the largest, most innovative and comprehensive nonprofit of its kind in the United States serving children, adolescents and young adults with special needs related to autism spectrum disorder, learning disabilities, ADHD, developmental delays, abuse and emotional challenges.
The Help Group’s specialized day schools offer pre-K through high school programs for more than 1,100 students. Its broad range of mental health and therapy services and residential programs extends its reach to more than 6,000 children and their families each year. Recently, The Help Group has launched programs to serve LGBTQ+ youth and homeschooled students. With more than 700 staff members, The Help Group’s state-of-the-art schools and programs are located on five campuses in the Los Angeles area.
